Morocco is located in the far north-west of Africa, and its name in Arabic ("al-Maghreb") literally means "the West". The country is just 13km from Spain, separated by the Strait of Gibraltar. Its neighbour to the east is Algeria. Morocco has 3,500km of coastline along the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, offering charming coastal towns such as Essaouira, Asilah, and Oualidia. The country is divided from north-east to south-west by the Atlas Mountain ranges (Middle, High, Anti-Atlas), and in the north the Rif Mountains drop off into the crystal-clear Mediterranean. Morocco Today Tours is based in Marrakech — the southernmost of the four Imperial Cities — ideally located to reach the great outdoors: 1 hour to the Atlas Mountains, 3 hours to the beach, 5 hours to the pre-Saharan oases, and 7 hours to the Sahara golden dunes!
No visa is required for UK, USA, EU, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand passport holders for stays up to 90 days. Visa regulations can change without notice — please check the current requirements well in advance of your trip. Morocco Today Tours is happy to advise if you have any questions about entry requirements.
The best time to visit Morocco is spring (March to June) or autumn (September to mid-November), when the weather is warm and pleasant. Summers can be scorching — especially in the desert and inland cities — while winters bring cold temperatures and snow to the Atlas Mountains. Morocco Today Tours operates year-round, and our team can advise on the best season for your chosen itinerary, whether you're heading to the Sahara, the mountains, or the coast.
All Morocco Today Tours itineraries starting in Marrakech include an arrival airport transfer, provided your flight lands on the first day of your tour between 05:00 and 23:59. Please send your full flight details (date, flight number, arrival time, and name of all travellers) to our team at least 2 weeks before departure. If you do not receive written confirmation of your pick-up, please contact us. You will be met by a Morocco Today Tours representative holding our sign at arrivals. For tours ending in Marrakech, a return shuttle to the airport is available on the last day of your tour.
You can book one of our tour itineraries, day excursions, or tailor-made tours by contacting us via phone, email, or the contact form on our website. Once we confirm availability in writing, we ask for a non-refundable 25% deposit to finalise your booking. The remaining balance can be paid by bank transfer at least two weeks before departure, or settled in cash with your guide on the first morning of your tour. Let us know your preference at the time of booking and we will agree the best arrangement for you.
Solo travellers are very welcome on Morocco Today Tours and often form some of the most memorable connections along the way. Solo guests are typically paired with another solo traveller of the same gender for accommodation, or can upgrade to a private room by paying the single supplement. Our tours are designed to be sociable and relaxed, making it easy to feel at home from day one, whether you are travelling alone or with friends.
The Moroccan Dirham (MAD) is the local currency. While USD, EUR, and GBP are accepted in some places, you will always get a better rate paying in Dirhams. ATMs are widely available in cities and tourist areas — we recommend withdrawing cash using a debit or travel card rather than a credit card. Avoid exchanging money at the airport as rates are generally less favourable in the city. Visa and Mastercard are accepted at larger hotels and tourist sites, but smaller shops and vendors in the souks and rural areas are cash-only. Your Morocco Today Tours guide will be happy to help if you need assistance.
If you provide your dietary requirements at the time of booking, Morocco Today Tours will do our best to make the necessary arrangements. You can leave a note under the "Notes" section when booking online, or simply contact us directly. Moroccan cuisine is naturally rich in vegetarian options — salads, tagines, and couscous with vegetables are staples. Please note that strict vegan and gluten-free options can be more limited, particularly in rural areas and desert camps, and we will always advise honestly on what is available for your specific itinerary.
