Trekking in the High Atlas mountains is a truly rewarding experience. Walk through Berber villages, discover the culture and customs of the mountain people, and summit Toubkal – the highest peak in North Africa at 4167m. A perfect adventure for those looking to combine culture with the great outdoors.
Day 1: Arrive Marrakech
We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Your guide will brief you on timings for the following day. Once settled in, experience the famous Djemaa el Fna square for the first time – a sensory explosion of entertainers, lit-up food stalls, aromas and activity.
Day 2: Marrakech – Imlil – Refuge Toubkal (3207m)
After breakfast, drive into the High Atlas Mountains to the village of Imlil – a 1.5 hour journey. Meet your trek crew, complete with mules, and set off on a steady 5 to 6 hour climb up to the Refuge. Overnight at the Refuge.
Day 3: Toubkal Summit (4167m) – Return to the Refuge
Prepare for a pre-dawn start for the ascent of the highest peak in North Africa. The terrain varies and can be steep as you climb towards the summit. From the triangle that marks the top, enjoy spectacular views – with clear skies, the hidden Sahara Desert is visible to the south. Descend back to the Refuge for the overnight stay.
Day 4: Refuge – Imlil – Marrakech
After breakfast, enjoy a 4 hour descent back to where the trek began. Meet the transport and head back to Marrakech. Once in the medina, you are free to roam and enjoy all that Marrakech has to offer.
Day 5: Departure
Our services conclude with a transfer to the airport for your flight home at the appropriate time.
